Esta es una lista cronológica de sopranos que han actuado en óperas de la música clásica del mundo occidental . La lista abarca desde las sopranos de ópera activas en las primeras óperas de finales del siglo XVI hasta las cantantes que actúan en la actualidad. Las cantantes que han grabado arias de ópera o las han cantado en concierto pero que nunca han actuado en una ópera no están incluidas en esta lista. Las cantantes están ordenadas por su año de nacimiento. Las cantantes cuyo año de nacimiento se desconoce están ordenadas por el primer año en el que se sabe que florecieron. Esta lista no debe incluir a cantantes que nunca hayan actuado en una ópera escenificada, con la excepción de cantantes históricos no blancos que fueron excluidos del escenario de la ópera en diversas partes del mundo debido a la discriminación antes de mediados del siglo XX.
