Una rivalidad deportiva es una competencia intensa entre equipos deportivos o atletas, que afecta a los participantes, [1] la gerencia y los seguidores en distintos grados.
Una de las primeras rivalidades deportivas conocidas se produjo en el Imperio romano entre los Azules y los Verdes, y los equipos menores de los Rojos y los Blancos, cada uno de los cuales eran clubes de carreras de carros que competían en el Hipódromo de Constantinopla . La rivalidad adquirió también matices políticos, llegando a estar a punto de derrocar al emperador romano Justiniano en 532 d. C. en un motín , cuya represión mató a decenas de miles de personas.
Se sabe que los propietarios fomentan las rivalidades, ya que tienden a mejorar la asistencia a los partidos y los índices de audiencia televisivos de los encuentros rivales. Los clubes pueden reducir la agresión de los hinchas en torno a los partidos rivales reconociendo el conflicto en lugar de restarle importancia [2], ya que la rivalidad es una parte integral de la identidad de los hinchas. [3]
El término "Derby" o derbi local tiene su origen en un partido de fútbol entre All Saints y St Peter's en la ciudad de Derby. Debido a la proximidad de las dos iglesias y, por lo tanto, al fútbol que se jugaba, de ahí proviene el término "derbi local" o "derby". El término "derby" posiblemente se originó a partir del Derby , una carrera de caballos en Inglaterra, fundada por el duodécimo conde de Derby en 1780. Desde entonces, el decimonoveno conde ha afirmado que el nombre de Derby originalmente solo se le dio a otro evento deportivo: partidos entre St Helens en un extremo de la finca de Knowsley de la familia y Wigan en el otro. La otra teoría sobre el origen del nombre tiene que ver con el fútbol de carnaval , una versión temprana y no oficializada tanto del fútbol de asociación como del rugby. Se jugó por primera vez en la ciudad de Derby antes de la época medieval. Ya desde el siglo XII se sabía que se jugaba en Ashbourne . Era un evento caótico y exuberante que involucraba a toda la ciudad, y que a menudo resultaba en muertes. Los goles estaban en Nuns Mill en el norte y Gallows Balk en el sur de la ciudad, y gran parte de la acción tenía lugar en el río Derwent o en Markeaton Brook . Nominalmente, los jugadores provenían de las parroquias de All Saints y St Peter, pero en la práctica el juego era un todos contra todos con hasta 1000 jugadores. Un francés que observó un partido en 1829 escribió con horror: "si los ingleses llaman a este juego, sería imposible decir cómo llaman a la lucha". El fútbol de carnaval sigue siendo un evento anual en la ciudad de Ashbourne. [7]
Desde al menos 1840, "derby" se ha utilizado como sustantivo en inglés para designar cualquier tipo de competición deportiva. [8] Otros nombres para los derbis incluyen Clásicos en ciertas partes del mundo y rivalidades entre ciudades en los Estados Unidos.
Las rivalidades no siempre tienen su origen en el hecho de compartir un espacio. Las hostilidades pueden surgir por diferentes motivos, como en el caso del Clásico, con tensiones entre aficionados con un trasfondo de diferencias políticas. Los frecuentes encuentros entre equipos en partidos importantes también pueden derivar en disgustos.
Diablos Rojos del México (Diablos Rojos de la Ciudad de México) vs. Péricos de Puebla (Puebla Parrots) en un juego denominado "Anáhuac Derby" ("Clásico de Ánahuac" en español). [46]
Aunque esta rivalidad es en realidad una rivalidad internacional, se desarrolla dentro de la Liga Nacional de Baloncesto ( NBL, por sus siglas en inglés), con sede en Australia . Los Breakers han sido miembros de la NBL desde su formación.
Guangdong tiene 11 títulos de liga CBA, más que cualquier otro equipo en la historia, por lo que es muy evidente que tendrán muchas rivalidades dentro de la CBA.
