Mis años en el juego de las palabras me han enseñado varias reglas:
1. Evitar la aliteración. Siempre.
2. Las preposiciones no son palabras con las que terminar oraciones.
3. Evitar los clichés como la peste. (Son cosa vieja.)
4. Utilizar el lenguaje vernáculo.
5. Evitar los ampersands y las abreviaturas, etc.
6. Los comentarios entre paréntesis (por muy relevantes que sean) son innecesarios.
7. Está mal dividir un infinitivo.
8. Las contracciones no son necesarias.
9. Las palabras y frases extranjeras no son apropiadas.
10. Nunca se debe generalizar.
11. Eliminar las citas. Como dijo una vez Ralph Waldo Emerson: "Odio las citas. Dime lo que sabes"
. 12. Las comparaciones son tan malas como los clichés.
13. No seas redundante; no uses más palabras de las necesarias; es altamente superfluo.
14. Las blasfemias apestan.
15. Sea más o menos específico.
16. La subestimación siempre es mejor.
17. La exageración es mil millones de veces peor que la subestimación.
